OC Profile: Tak

Name: Tak

Species: forest fairy

History: Tak was born a normal fairy. Helping to keep the peace in his home of FernGully and to help grow and nurture all living things. The only difference was, he was born without wings, which took away his ability to fly. This made him the target of jokes and pranks from the other fairy kids. The only one who was a friend to him was his older sister, Crysta, and their teacher, Magi Lune, who told him that he didn't need wings to be a true fairy, but to have FernGully in your heart and someday he will fly. One day, while helping free a trapped animal, two strangers came into the forest and started kidnapping and trapping other animals and putting them in cages in the back of the van that they came in. Crysta managed to get away before they caught her, unfortunately, Tak wasn't so lucky. Because he had no wings, he couldn't fly to safety and as a result, was trapped with a nearby hedgehog by accident. As they closed the doors to the van, Tak cried out for help before Crysta flew to the window to see her little brother one last time. The van then drove away, out of sight. Never to be seen again.

Tak woke up later in another cage, but in what appeared to be a labratory. He and the kidnapped animals were taken to a science lab in the city, where animals are test subjects for various experiments. He was sitting in his cage feeling alone and scared, but then he met a strange character named Batty Koda, who was also taken from his home to be experimented, and the two became fast friends. One day, the two tricked the two humans into taking them out of their cages. It was then that Batty took this opportunity to bite the hand of one of the men who was holding him, making him stumble onto the switch that opened the cages, letting the animals make their escape. Startled, the other human who was holding Tak, lost his grip and let him go. Tak rushed to his freedom with the other animals. Batty was also flying towards his escape, but one of the humans managed to grabbed him before he could make it. Tak stopped at the exit, wanting to turn back to help his friend, but Batty told him that he'll be all right and that he should leave before he's captured again as well. Hesitant at first, Tak ran out the door as fast as he can and as far as he can away from that terrible place.

But this new world that he found himself in was as strange and as scary it was in the lab. He kept being scared and running away from everything he came across. Speeding cars, barking dogs, hundreds of giant humans moving around and about, almost stepping on poor Tak. After his dangerous escape from the lab, Tak finally made his way towards a peaceful city park, where he found a tree that was vacant and perfect enough for him to rest. Exhausted, he gathered some leaves he found in the tree and made a little bed to sleep for the night. He curled in a little ball in the corner, feeling once again scared and alone and missing his home, his father, his sister and Magi, and slowly went to sleep.

Ten years later, Tak has now grown into a young pre-teenaged fairy, and has very well adjusted to his new, temporary home. Because he is still not yet able to fly, he has learned to rely on his quick thinking and inventive skills to get around the human city. He's also become very educated about humans and their ever-growing world. And though he has made himself comfortable to his new environment, he still yearns to return to his true home in FernGully and to be reunited with his family.

Personality: Growing up in the city for ten years, Tak has grown to be a slick, confident and street-smart young fairy. He uses his knowledge and creative skills to overcome any obstacle. And yet, he still hasn't forgotten where he comes from or who he is.



Sorry I'm not so good at storytelling. I'm better with pictures than with words. Anyway this is my FernGully original character and one of the oldest I've ever had
